Entry Visa in Uganda


Passport valid for at least six months from date of entry to Uganda is required by all nationals.

Note: Entry may be refused to passengers not holding sufficient funds, return or onward tickets, and other necessary travel documents.


Ugandan visas are issued at Ugandan missions and also at all entry/exit points. The Uganda visa policy uses the principle of reciprocity, that is all countries that require visas for Ugandans are visa prone in Uganda.

Countries exempted from visa requirements to Uganda are:

Angola, Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Comoros, Cyprus, Eritrea, Fiji, Gambia, Grenada, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Malta, Mauritius, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Swaziland, Tanzania, Tonga, Vanuatu, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Types of Visa & Cost

Single-entry: $50.

Multiple-entry: $100 (six months); $200 (12 months).

Inland transit: $50.

Validity of Visa

Single-entry: Three months from date of issue.

Multiple-entry: Six or 12 months.

Transit: 24 hours from the time of arrival.

Visa Requirements

• One dully filled application form by each applicant.
• Every section of the application form must be completed. Incomplete forms will not be processed.
• Two passport size photographs
• Must submit original passport valid past the date of your expected departure from Uganda.
• Correct visa fee, letter of invitation/introduction, if travelling on business.
• Applicants may be requested to submit additional supporting documentation.
• An international Inoculation Certificate against yellow fever.

Applications should be made at the nearest Ugandan Consulate or Consular section at the Ugandan High Commission/Embassy. Transit visas are issued at the airport.

Processing Time

Three working days.
